PAINTING
2019-2021
This intimate series of oil paintings on aluminium composite boards captures the essence of innocence and the inner world of the innocent in outer circumstances. Through the "al prima" technique, each piece is a testament to the spontaneity of expression and vulnerability of childhood. The use of white under-painted wet oil base allows for a gentle yet swift exploration of hues and shades, imbuing the works with a sense of immediacy.
A recurring motif in the series is the lego figure, symbolizing the inner child in combination with the human form. The vibrant colours of the lego figure serve to highlight the emotions and brightness of unfolding experiences. This visual dialogue is rooted in personal reflection, as the series explores memories of childhood, relationships with parents and siblings, and the complex dynamics of genders as well as authority and influence.
The "al prima" technique, combined with white under-painted wet oil base, allows for a fluid and expressive exploration of colour immersed into white underlayin hues. This approach enables the spontaneity of epression while captures vulnerability of childhood and youth, while the use of lego figures adds a layer of emphesised colour depth and symbolism to the narrative.
